The Clemson Certificate of Accomplishment for Landscape and Garden Design
The Clemson Certificate of Accomplishment in Landscape and Garden Design (CCALD) is sponsored by the Clemson University Department of Planning and Landscape Architecture in the School of Art, Architecture and Humanities. and administered by the Clemson Department of Distance and Off-Campus Programs at http://odce.clemson.edu/Landscape.html.
A CCALD Certificate holder is well-versed in the issues and execution of landscape and garden design. The CCALD Certificate consists of 72 hours of lecture & design which build a fully-expressed program in 7 courses of landscape appreciation, landscape history, plant materials, design technology, construction and planting design. The design studio, consisting of 2 sessions and at home exercises, teaches the fundamentals of design and drawing plans to scale.
- Homeowners will learn about the four part master plan, how to
interface well with a contractor, plus design their own landscape .
- Architects and designers will refine the skills required to
organize functional landscape areas and express three-dimensionally
concepts.
- Garden center staff will better understand clients needs by
experiencing the total picture of landscape design and construction.
- Landscape contractors & builders will attain a high level of
exposure to new landscape construction techniques and a connoisseurship
of ideas and execution.

Access to course material is available to registered students only in the Presentations section of the website. An introductory seminar is now available to the public. This introductory seminar is designed to offer a sampling of the courses included in the new program: Certificate of Accomplishment in Landscape and Garden Design. Included is a sampling of History of Landscape Design, Principles of Landscape Design, Landscape Plant Materials, Planting Design, Landscape Construction, and the Design Studio.
